I am very thankful that he was at this seminar, because all of the advice he gave was so helpful, and will definitely come in handy for all of the students that were present. He also pointed us in the direction of his work, "A Strategic Approach to Your Internship", which I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to get the most out of an internship/first time job.
After Mr. Marcuse, we heard from a panel of CSIS members, Den Daus-Haberle, Christina Perkins, and Nahmyo Thomas. We heard about their day-to-day work in the CSIS program and how student can get involved and become a part of CSIS. They also told us about their experiences after graduation, because they were not much older than us, and they had recently experienced what most of us in the room were about to experience in graduating and trying to find careers.
After speaking with the panel of young CSIS members, we spoke one-on-one with Mara Burger, the program manager for the Abshire-Inamori Leadership Academy. Mara played a major role in organizing everything that we would be participating in for the week, and she did an amazing job. She allowed for us to have an amazing eye-opening experience, and I would like to put out a public thank you to her. She even got sick during the week and couldn't be with us, but as soon as she was able, she was there, welcoming speakers and answering all of our questions.
